<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">Hey everybody, sadly Summer time is halfway over, but the Curry County Health and Wellness Council would like to provide a few safety tips to help ensure everyone has a safe and happy summer.  Listed below are a few tips for adults and children which are easy to follow and will help to keep you and your loved ones safe and out of the hospital this summer.    Safety first!  How many times have we heard this statement?  Every day, I see some of our local children and adults participating in outdoor activities in ways that are in reality not all that safe.  For example; riding bicycles and skateboards without helmets or safety equipment and running in or around public traffic areas while wearing headphones.  Dangerous accidents can occur in the blink of an eye, something that seems harmless could result in a major tragedy.  Everyone should take a quick look at the activity they are participating in and ask themselves what could go wrong?  What if there was a brick wall near the end of the slip-in-slide in the yard, this would be a good safety assessment to move the activity to a better location.  Wearing a helmet along with the appropriate safety gear while biking, skateboarding or rollerblading will reduce the chance of injury. Accidents happen, but by taking a few precautions we can reduce the chance and severity of injuries.    Remember to wear lifejackets while boating and children should always have adult supervision while swimming.  Obviously, parents can’t dress their children in bubble wrap and send them out to play, but practicing safety should be an everyday habit.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;">On Tuesday, August 4 from 5:30 P.M. until 8:30 P.M., the Curry County Health and Wellness Council in conjunction with Clovis Police Department, Curry County DWI Task Force and several Cannon AFB agencies will host the Annual National Night Out.  This event is nation-wide and promotes Safety, Fun and Security.  This year’s event will be held at Greene Acres Park.  There will be several fun activities for children and adults alike, some come out and see for yourself.</div>
